Neston Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan

 The area being considered is mainly Neston and Little Neston but within Parkgate includes Parkgate Road, Earle Drive and Leighton Road and the proposals cover:

  • Access improvements and traffic calming

  • Widened footways

  • New crossings 

  • Tactile paving and accessible kerbs

The Parkgate Society have reviewed the proposals and have provided this summary of the main impacts to Neston and Parkgate.
1. Remove the existing zebra crossing outside the old Post Office and incorporation of a new signalised crossing into the High Street approach to the High Street/ Raby Road/ park Street junction.
2. Widening the footpaths to 2m (where possible) along Park Street.
3. Extension of 20 mph zone down Parkgate Road from the Cross to the Neston Club, with three uncontrolled crossing points with accessible kerbs and tactile paving.
4. Accessible kerbs and tactile paving on Leighton Road and Raby Park Road
5. Traffic humps on
5.a. Raby Park Road from the high school all the way down to the junction with Raby Road
5.b. Marshlands Road (road down to the Harp pub)
6. New signalised crossing over the Bridge Street approach to the Chester/ High Street junction. The plan for this proposal can be viewed here.
7. A new zebra crossing over Mellock Lane at St. Winefride's Catholic Primary School.
